Gas cooktop or stove clicking

It's the little things that can drive one crazy.

They also tend to be the easiest to fix.  If you have a gas cooktop or stove with an electric starter you probably have experienced times when the burners click repeatedly after they have been lit and are annoying.

There are a couple of simple fixes to try before calling a repairman.  First, water may have penetrated the burner so it not only clicks but it also will not start.  Easy to fix...remove the burner lid, shake out the water from the burner head, dry it, return to its place, and reignite the burner.   It may take a few minutes for the flame to dry the burner entirely before the clicking stops but it should help.  If, however, there is no evidence of water yet the burner clicks off and on for long periods of time try unplugging the stove/cooktop from the outlet for a few minutes before plugging it back in.  This may resolve the clicking issue.  Lastly, using a dry toothbrush to brush the electric sparker may also help resolve the problem.

These tips have helped many of our clients.  Hope it helps you! Good luck with it and here's to no more clicking.

Client Testimonials

Ned and the entire Chatelain team could not have been more professional, helpful and good at what they do. We had a challenging sale, given the time of year and condition of the house. Ned took all the appropriate steps to market the house in an aggressive manner and addressed all the details once qualified buyers were found. We especially appreciated how available Ned was to meet certain parties at the house (cleaners; care takers; movers; etc.), given that we had since left the Cape.  Please give Ned a call….you won’t be disappointed.
